CEF funds creative enrichment and mental health programs in the Cambrian School District.

Annual Grants to the Cambrian School District

Donations to the CEF help the Cambrian School District deliver a high-quality, well-rounded learning experience for all TK-8 students by funding teachers and essential programs for STEM*, Wellness, Literacy, and Arts. This school year CEF funding will help provide mental health counseling, librarians, after-school music lessons, art supplies, MakerSpace supplies, and more. CEF’s funding priorities are based on feedback from our annual parent survey and strategic sessions with the school district and our Home & School Clubs.

Your student and every student in our six schools will benefit. CEF helps fill the gap in school funding from federal, state, and local sources.

This year's flexible grant allows the district to make adjustments within the program categories as needed due to changing educational needs.

CEF’s annual grants provide supplemental funding to sustain and expand essential district-wide programs.

  • After-School Band & Choir

CEF’s Annual Grant provides supplemental funding for after-school music programs across the district. Elementary band is available to 4th & 5th grades. Elementary choir is available to 3rd - 5th grades. Middle School band and choir are available to all 6th-8th grade students.

  • Art & MakerSpace

The CEF Annual Grant provides supplemental funding to allow all elementary students to receives art instruction and MakerSpace time during the school day. Middle School students have the option of an art elective that includes ceramics hand-building and use of the potter’s wheel. CEF funding is crucial to provide supplies and materials not covered by federal, state, and local funding.

  • Social-Emotional Learning

All elementary classes use Second Step, a social-emotional learning curriculum. CEF’s annual Mental Health Grant helps fund the curriculum and training for the teachers.

  • Student & Family Mental Health Resources

The CEF annual Mental Health Grant allows the district to provide more expansive and targeted mental health programs throughout the district. These include:

    • Kelvin — digital mental health check-ins for all students

    • Care Solace — a mental health agency connecting students and families with outside mental health resources

    • On-Site School Counselors — each school can receive more time for small-group and individual services during the school day.

CEF provides 100% of the funding for several district-wide enrichment programs available to all students and families.

  • Read-a-thon Awards

Each year Cambrian students compete to see how much they can read over a three week period. The CEF provides awards to recognize the top-reading school, grades, and students in each grade level. While this is also a fundraiser, recognizing and celebrating out students and families is an important community event.

  • Family Night of Code

CEF proudly sponsors Family Night of Code, an annual STEM event, in collaboration with computer science students from Branham High School. Students and their families come together to learn Scratch coding in a fun, user-friendly environment with age-appropriate activities for TK-8th grade.

Prior coding experience is not necessary to participate and enjoy this event.

  • The Great Cambrian Code-Off

In collaboration with computer science students from Branham High School, the CEF sponsors a friendly district-wide coding competition. Students and their families can compete individually or in teams to see what they can create in Scratch code. Younger coders (TK-2nd) can participate in fun coding games and activities. This is a fun, family friendly event for all ages.

Prior coding experience, while helpful, is not necessary to participate.
